A good pair of sneakers should feel comfortable from the first day and keep its shape after months of wear. Before you order, it helps to think about where you will wear them, how they should fit and how you will look after them.
1. Decide what you need them for
Casual sneakers for college, work or errands are built differently from running or training shoes. Casual pairs focus on looks and everyday comfort. Sports shoes add cushioning and grip for repeated impact. If you plan to walk long distances every day, choose a pair with a cushioned sole and good arch support rather than a flat, fashion-only design.
2. Get the size right
- Measure your foot in the evening, when feet are at their largest.
- Stand on paper, mark the heel and longest toe, and measure the distance in centimetres.
- Compare your measurement with the size chart on the product page, because sizes vary between brands.
- Leave about a thumb-width of space in front of your longest toe.
- If you are between sizes, the larger size is usually more comfortable, especially with thicker socks.
3. Check the materials
Canvas is light and breathable, which suits Pakistan’s hot months, but it marks easily. Leather and synthetic leather are easier to wipe clean and hold their shape, but can feel warmer. Mesh uppers are the most breathable and are common on sports shoes. Rubber soles give better grip than hard plastic soles on smooth floors and wet roads.
4. Think about colour and care
White sneakers go with almost everything, but they show dust quickly. Darker or patterned pairs hide everyday dirt better. To keep any pair looking good, brush off dust after wearing, clean marks with a damp cloth and mild soap, and let them dry in the shade rather than in direct sun.
